Sweet Summer

I am writing this late Saturday night and by the time this posts and you read it we will be waiting for Hurricane Irene. We may or may not lose power, school may or may not start Monday, the kids may or may not be fascinated by the storm. Lots of unknowns right now. All we can do is hunker down and ride it out.  Up here in the northeast it can be Summer one day and the next day Fall can be in full force. We had a good summer, lots of swimming and playing outside.

I haven’t been scrapping too much lately, not really feeling very creative and anything I have done I am not really happy with. I made this page today and I really like the way it came out. Hopefully this will start me on a roll making layouts. I really miss playing with paper & glue! I feel like I have about 2 dozen or so pics of Darby on the swing this summer. But considering that is where she spent roughly 67% of her time this summer I guess that should be about right. She was so content just to be in that spot taking it all in.

I am a bit sad to summer go, the kids are really looking forward to fall and school and soccer and  Halloween.Gasp, you mean you don’t have your costume planned yet??  It has been the main topic of conversation around here:) Pat is way ready for football, GO PATS!!!

Stay safe if you are in the path of the storm!!

I think I can…

Yesterday Maura really wanted to jump off the end of the dock. She was so scared that she was literally shaking,it was a BIG deal to her. It took her about half a dozen attempts and some serious pep talks. She would turn around and walk back down the dock shaking her head. Then she would stand in the water for a few minutes talking to herself and getting her game plan down. She kept at it till finally she jumped. She then proclaimed that it was so awesome and she promptly wanted to do it again. I am very proud of her. Anyone that knows Maura knows that she is not a daredevil, she is not a fly by the seat of pants kinda girl, she doesn’t take anything lightly. She then wanted to swim out to the raft and try jumping off that. It was a bit quicker this time as she was already in brave mode.

I found a few quotes that pretty much sum up her day.

This one

or this one

or maybe perhaps this one…

Good job Maura!

& I will leave you today with a little bit of the boy.

Finally…

After reaching the ripe old age of  1 year 1 week and 3 days, Adeline finally has a tooth sprouting through. I was beginning to wonder if she was going to start walking before she even had any teeth. Of course she only has a sliver of pearly white showing so I guess the odds are still 50/50. I will kinda miss that sweet gummy smile of hers though. But I will not miss the drool.
